Hello and welcome, my name is Raven Heyne and I am the author of Love Letters, a booklet cataloging the history, designs and impact of more than 15 designers that have inspired me over the course of my educational career. This project began as an honors project, and has expanded to become a part of me. This site will serve as an expansion of the booklet, a place for female designers and students to join the fight, learn about their roots and experience the joy of beautiful design.
“I love letterforms of all kinds, and all of their manifestations, in books, on street signs, and in store windows, painted ones peeling off of walls, chalk ones scribbled on sidewalks, and imposing ones chiseled in stone. I like every aspect of handling the small pieces of type. From picking them out of the case, to setting them and pushing them around in ever changing combinations. I like playing with the little spaces between letters, words and lines that make up the type form. I like placing the form within the frame and locking it up for printing. I like the sounds of the press, and the smell of the ink. I like the feeling of inner satisfaction that comes as a new image emerges from the press." - Betti Haft
